URLO Firenze is a performance developed in five panoramic locations in Florence, where 200 citizens, equipped with microphones and loudspeakers, were able to emit a scream that echoed throughout the city. A scream devoid of any dramatic or emotional accent, a primordial form of human communication used to signal a presence or indicate a direction. It was not a cry of revolt, of affirmation of presence, of unexpressed anger, nor a method of soothing contemporary neuroses, or perhaps all of these things together, but above all, it was a cry of gathering, an attempt to reestablish relationships between and for the inhabitants of a city, to restore it as a space of social interaction above all else.
